Statesman Gives Dems a Pass On Security

By workingpresstoo

The Statesman has pounded Republicans when high profile GOP leaders visit the Gem State as it relates to security.  The Statesman always wants to know if the GOP will pay.  Now that Obama (The Statesman’s new favorite Democrat) has visited Idaho did they ask the same questions?

No.  They give the Ds a free pass and fawn over Obama while continuing to beat up on Republicans.

The Statesman couldn’t even give the new GOP Executive Director a clean story this week.  They had to drag the Larry Craig material in just to poke Republicans in the eye.

Is it any wonder Statesman circulation continues to plummet, McClatchy stock drops below $10 a share for the first time and they still can’t get the Micron story right.

What is it with the Statesman?  Do they want to chase the last fortune 500 company out of Boise?

There will be much more in coming days and weeks.

It will be interesting if they delve into the REAL reasons why the dem party ED is leaving (announced today on “Eye on Boise”).

I heard it was back biting and infighting.

Yeah, there’s clearly more going on than meets the eye. Foster says he’s leaving for family reasons, but doesn’t even have a job lined up to take care of that family? Not saying he’s irresponsible at all, but if he was expecting to leave, you’d think he would have something else waiting.

On Obama’s visit, I hear it cost BPD a good sight more to provide security for that event than Cheney’s visit to Coeur d’Alene. But the Dems aren’t offering to pay up, and the Statesman’s silence is deafening.

Wow. Branden Durst makes me proud to live in Idaho. Or not. The guy hasn’t done a damn thing useful since getting elected to the legislature. Before today, he was best known for showing up on his first day of work last year in a t-shirt and jeans, and had to be sent home to change. What is this, middle school? Or perhaps you’ve heard of this one – Durst asked Democrat leadership last year if it was ok if he brought his Gameboy to meetings, to keep from getting bored. Forget about learning the issues!

And today, Mr. Durst has added to this distinguished pedigree by introducing legislation to…make health care more affordable for workers? No…Combat drug abuse in his home district (Dist. 18)? No…Today, he sponsored a bill to make milk the official drink of Idaho, saying “I think it’s important as a state that we provide some direction toward good diets.”

Don’t get me wrong. A healthy diet is important. But not that important. Mr. Durst, time is running out to achieve something of substance before November…

Key difference: Obama’s event was free and open to the public. Cheney’s event, if I am not mistaken, was closed-door and was a fundraiser. There is a difference between providing police services to a civic event that is free to the public, and one that is closed to the public and meant to raise money.

Also, you love dragging McClatchy’s stock price into your posts here. But really, that has very little to do with the Statesman’s financial performance. Sure, if things get tight in the company, they will get tight at the paper. But the Statesman is such a small portion of revenue among the company’s dozens of papers, that there isn’t a direct correlation between the Statesman and the stock price whatsoever.

Um, the new GOP director was a former Craig staffer. How could you not mention the Craig story in that? Geez.

You’re right. If only the Statesman would ignore Micron’s falling stock, and the local economic reprocussion that has/will have, everything would just be peachy for Appleton and Co. Sure. Keep dreaming.

You know there is a lot to go after the Statesman for, but you taking big swings and missing terribly. Most of the issues you bring up here are non-issues, you just want to grind your ax on whatever you can find. There’s a lot to critisize, too bad you just come off as a bitter former employee and Craig apologist.

Welol as I have said before the Idaho Statesman is a big crappy Left wing stupid bunch of yahoos who coulodn’t get out of a paper bag if the top was left open.
